In the Upper Bléone Valley, there is a visually striking site, named Beau Clue, where the geology is revealing folds of black marl interspersed with light-colored limestone layers. Provençal Colorado. This seemingly natural site is actually the product of man and nature, it is an historic ocher quarry. The striking variations of red colors are due to the iron oxides this sandy layer contains. The ore extracted was refined to produce a pigment to be used in a wide range of products. This golden age lasted from 1890 until its demise in 1930 with the introduction of synthetic dyes. Nowadays, this site is popular with hikers. Rustrel, Vaucluse, Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur, France.

Vallon de Challandre is one of the most (if not the most) picturesque canyon in the southern Alps. This hidden gem is known only to people involved in canyoning. Lake Serre-Ponçon is a reservoir that gathers the waters of the Durance and the Ubaye Rivers. The waters are dammed by the Serre-Ponçon Dam. Completed in 1961, the multipurpose dam was to generate power, irrigate farmland and regulate the powerful floods of the Durance River. And tourism has continued to grow ever since. Port Grimaud is an idyllic man-made marina in the famed Gulf of Saint-Tropez on the French Riviera. This aquatic town, nicknamed the “Venice of Provence,” was built on a huge coastal marsh in the late 1960s. Saint-Tropez is a popular tourist destination on the French Riviera. In 1956, this sleeping fishing village came to prominence with the release of the movie And God Created Woman. This film starring actress Brigitte Bardot was entirely shot in Saint-Tropez and the surrounding countryside. This is an authentic village of Provence with a marina where yachts (up to 70-meter-long) are ostentatiously moored a few meters away from the crowded sidewalk and cafes.
